Tim Burton Set to Direct Live Action 'Dumbo' for Disney


LOS ANGELES - Disney and "Alice in Wonderland" director Tim Burton are reportedly set to team up once again for a live-action version of the iconic animated film "Dumbo," Variety is reporting.

According to sources, "Transformers" writer Ehren Kruger has submitted a draft of the proposed film to the studio which in turn is said to be pleased with the work and is now seeking an "A-list" director. Disney is said to be seeking to follow up the success of "Maleficent" and "Alice" by developing live action versions of several of its animated classics.

The original "Dumbo" was first released in 1941 by Disney. It tells the story of a young elephant who faced ridicule due to his enormous ears, joins a young mouse to try to achieve his full potential.
