It's Shailene Woodley's Night at MTV Movie Awards
LOS ANGELES - It was Shailene Woodley's night at the MTV Music Awards at the Nokia Theatre last night as the "Divergent" star garnered multiple awards, including Best Female Performance.
Granted, the event is no Oscars, Woodley and fellow artists had a lot more fun at the relaxed and sometimes raunchy awards ceremony broadcast live by MTV Sunday night. The young actress received MTV Trailblazer Award. She also was recognized for Best Female Performance and Best Kiss (with co-star Ansel Elgort) for her role in "The Fault in Our Stars," which also was named Movie of the Year.
Hosted by standup comedian Amy Schumer, the show took on a decidedly low-brow approach as she bantered about her amazing "gag reflex," and how the "Magic Mike" cast was "making it rain in my Spanx," among other things.
Other hightlights included an inspirational speech by Robert Downey Jr. who spoke about his battle with substance abuse and how it's possible to overcome it. Musical performances by Fallout Boy and Charlie XCX also highlighted the evening with Charlie donning a skintight catsuit to play a giant inflatable guitar during her set.
