Katy Perry Thanks Left Shark for her Emmy Nomination
LOS ANGELES - Katy Perry has thanked the hapless dancer best known as Left Shark from her Superbowl halftime concert earlier this year for the Emmy nomination she received for that performance.
Perry was nominated for an "Outstanding Short-Format Live-Action Entertainment Program" Emmy on Thursday, for her performance at the Super Bowl XLIX in Glendale, Ariz.
Perry tweeted her excitement at her nomination, saying: "Um...Woke up to my first Emmy nomination for the Halftime show!!! V proud of everyone involved especially #leftshark."
Although #LeftShark memes and tweets teased or were highly critical of the backup dancer's apparent unorthodox moves, Perry's choreographer later said he "nailed" the performance.
