The LAPD Increases Security for 'Straight Outta Compton' Premiere

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Police Department and other police departments Los Angeles are beefing up their patrols throughout the weekend as a precautionary measure for the opening of Universal Pictures' "Straight Outta Compton" movie opening.

“We will be increasing our patrols for the weekend,” Los Angeles Police Department officer Naoria Vanegas told The Hollywood Reporter. “In recent months, we’ve seen a lot of violence at movie theaters and it’s a concern for Los Angeles,” she said, referring to the July 23 shooting in Louisiana during the screening of the movei "Trainwreck" that left three people dead, including the gunman, and the Aug. 5 shooting in a Tennessee theater.

"Straight Outta Compton" tells the story of the seminal gangster rap group NWA in the 1980s from their rise from a gang-infested neighborhood in Compton to worldwide fame.

The movie stars Neil Brown Jr., Aldis Hodge, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell and O'Shea Jackson Jr.
