Powers Boothe, Known for ‘Deadwood’ and ‘Sin City,’ Dies at 68

LOS ANGELES - Powers Boothe, known for playing villains in films like “Sin City” and “Tombstone” and television series like “Deadwood” and “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and others, died Sunday morning in Los Angeles. He was 68.
The actor’s representative confirmed that Boothe died in his sleep from natural causes. Actor Beau Bridges was the first to report Boothe's death on Twitter, writing "It's with great sadness that I mourn the passing of my friend Powers Boothe. A dear friend, great actor, devoted father & husband.” Boothe was known for his portrayal of rival brothel owner Cy Tolliver during three seasons of Deadwood, where he became the nemesis to Ian McShane's Al Swearengen.
More recently, he had the recurring role of tycoon Lamar Wyatt on the country music drama “Nashville.” Boothe had won an Emmy award as Best Actor for his performance in the 1980 TV movie Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones.
