LOS ANGELELS – ‘Flatliners,’ Ellen Page’s newest film is truly flatlining as Rotten Tomatoes awards it a 0 score on its opening weekend.

“Flatliners,” tells the story of five medical students, hoping to gain insight into the mystery of what happens to people when they die as they embark on a daring experiment. By stopping their hearts for brief periods, each one triggers a near-death experience. As things become more and more dangerous, they are forced to confront the sins of their pasts while dealing with the paranormal consequences of visiting the afterlife.

The film received a 44 percent audience score, with an average user rating of 2.9 out of 5 while critics gave it at a 3.5 out of 10 rating. Cineamascore, however, gave “Flatliners” a B-.

The Columbia film, directed by Niels Arden Oplev, also stars Nina Dobrev, Diego Luna, James Norton, Kiersey Clemons and Kiefer Sutherland, among others.

The original 1990 film starred Sutherland, Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, William Baldwin and Oliver Platt.
