Avinash Ramachandra Joins Only on Tuesdays
LOS ANGELES – Veteran rock drummer Avinash Ramachandra, formerly of Bones Like Snowflakes, has joined Only on Tuesdays, the Los Angeles-based alternative rock band set to tour later this year.
“I am excited to join this amazing band and be a part of such a creative group of people,” Ramachandra said. “Everyone has been very supportive and dedicated to creating music that is meaningful and touches people in a profound way.”
Ramachandra joins Only on Tuesdays which was formed in 2009 by founder/lead singer Autumn Skibinski with a blend of pop, rock and rhythm and blues. The band includes guitarist Eugene Gorsky and bassist Antonio Carter. The band is known for its best-selling EP “Break Free” which was produced by Grammy-nominated producer Bruce Witken.
“Avinash brings a great energy and passion for music that perfectly complements the band,” Skibinski said. “We are excited to have him on board and bring his unique talents to Only on Tuesdays.”
Ramachandra comes to the band after working with Bones Like Snowflakes for the past two years and Acid Quartet and Caleb Mark previously. Ramachandra brings his unique style and intense approach to his work that has earned him a strong following and growing fan base.
“Bones like snowflakes is an extremely different band compared to only on Tuesdays. Bones, is an instrumental band, so it’s quite challenging to be engaged with the audience without a singer,” he said. “So, we as musicians have be really tight because all the spotlight is on us and this kind energy is exactly what Only on Tuesdays brings to each show and recording session!”
The veteran drummer has been an industry fixture since his arrival from his native India after a stellar career in his home country that began at age 16 when he discovered his talent for drumming. He would go on to perform in on stage and record with a number of bands and artists, ultimately coming to the U.S.
“My musical philosophy is simply to play to the music. I don’t like the drums getting in the way of the singer and prefer it always to be backing the rest of the band,” he said. “But I am not underplaying by no means, but respecting the bounds of the other musicians in the band. I can play all the chops I want in my free time, but would give that only if there is place and the song is asking for it.”
