'Barely Lethal' Gets its R Rating Overturned on Appeal

LOS ANGELES - The producers of "Barely Lethal," a teen action-comedy starring Hailee Steinfeld, Samuel L. Jackson and Jessica Alba, have won their appeal to overturn the Motion Picture Association of America's R Rating into a PG-13 rating for the film.
The MPAA's Classification and Rating Appeals Board overturned the R rating given to the movie for sexual material and teen drinking on Thursday. The film is now rated PG-13 for sexual content, teen drinking, language, drug references and for some violence.
The movie's cast includes Sophie Turner, Jaime King, Thomas Mann, Rob Huebel and Dove Cameron. Brett Ratner and John Cheng are producing the film for RatPac Entertainment. Other producers include Sukee Chew of Hopscotch Pictures, and Ted Hartleyand Vanessa Coifman of RKO Pictures.
