Tom Hardy Signs on for Three More 'Mad Max' Films

LOS ANGELES - British actor Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises) has revealed he has signed on to star in three additional "Mad Max" movies for Warner Bros after the upcoming "Mad Max" reboot "Mad Max Fury Road," releases on May 15.

According to an interview in Esquire Magazine, Hardy said he is onboard three more "Mad Max" movies but told the magazine "Everything’s based on figures and how things are perceived. Inevitably it’s a business."

Warner Bros. has not confirmed whether there would be additional "Mad Max" movies.

Hardy assumes Mel Gibson’s role as the brooding Max Rockatansky, and Charlize Theron takes on the role of Furiosa in the film which is set in a post-apocalyptic, violence-ridden Australian Outback. "Mad Max Fury Road," will serve as a sequel to the Gibson-George Miller 1980s trilogy of “Mad Max,” “The Road Warrior” and “Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome.”

Miller has said that he planned to shoot two films back-to-back, with the second film, titled “Mad Max: Furiosa." But it's unclear whether those plans remain in place.
