'Furious 7' Tops Weekend Box Office for 2nd Straight Week!


LOS ANGELES - "Furious 7" stayed atop the weekend box office with a strong $60 million for a two-week total of $252.2 million in domestic ticket sales. It took just 10 days for the film to become the franchise's biggest grossing movie in its history.

Altogether, just eight films have hit the $250 million mark in the U.S. faster. They were "The Avengers," "The Dark Knight," "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," "The Dark Knight Rises," "Iron Man 3," "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2," "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" and then "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest."

The Vin Diesel/Paul Walker film outlasted second place animated family film "Home" from Dreamworks Animation, which took in $19 million for a U.S. total of $129.5 million.

The Scott Eastwood romance drama "The Longest Ride," opened in third place with $13.5 million. The Kevin Hart/Will Ferrell comedy "Get Hard" was fourth with $8.6 million and $71.2 million total. In fifth place was Disney's "Cinderella" with $7.2 million and $180.7 million total. It was followed by "Insurgent," with $6.8 million and $114.8 million total, "Woman In Gold" with $5.8 million and $9.3 million total; "It Follows," $2.0 million and $11.7 million total; "Danny Collins," $1.6 million and $2.4 million total; and "While We're Young," $1.37 million and $2.3 million total.
