Independent Producers to Launch Three Stooges Action Comedy

LOS ANGELES - C3 Entertainment, owners of the Three Stooges names and trademarks, has agreed to produce an action comedy about the comedy trio, starring Sean Hayes (as Larry), Chris Diamantopoulos (Moe) and Will Sasso (Curly). The three actors will reprise their roles as the famed comedians from the 2012 comedy "The Three Stooges," produced by the Farrelly brothers, Variety has reported.

Earl Benjamin, CEO of C3 Entertainment; Alan Simpson, CEO of Grand Peaks Entertainment; and Brian O’Shea, CEO of the Exchange made the announcement Friday.

C3's Pablo Velez will serve as producer along with Alan Simpson of Grand Peaks and Nat McCormick of the Exchange. Simpson and McCormick will reportedly provide the film’s development financing through Exchange Peaks Capital fund.

Veteran screenwriter Cameron Fay is set to write the script, but it's unclear whether the Farrelly Brothers will return to co-direct.

The 2012 film grossed $44 million in the U.S. on a $30 million budget.
