Alfonso Ribeiro Named New Host of 'America's Funniest Videos'
LOS ANGELES - "The Fresh Prince of Bel Aire" alum and "Dancing with the Stars" champion Alfonso Ribeiro has been tapped to become the new host of ABC's long-running "America's Funniest Videos."
The announcement came during Tuesday's airing of "Dancing with the Stars," which is hosted by Tom Bergeron, who also hosts "America's Funniest Videos." Bergeron had announced he was leaving that show after 14 seasons.
The show is set to begin its 26th season this fall, giving ABC's its longest-running primetime entertainment show. America's Funniest Videos airs Sunday nights at 7 p.m.
Ribeiro is known for his iconic role as nerdy rich kid, Carlton Banks in the Will Smith 1990s sitcom "The Fresh Prince of Bel Aire." Ribeiro, who was born in Trinidad & Tobago, began his career on the PBS show "Oye Ollie." Upon earning a leading role in the Broadway musical "The Tap Dance Kid" Ribeiro was spotted by Michael Jackson who added him to one of his many Pepsi commercials where he portrayed a moon-walking child version of himself.
