Grumpy Cat is Getting her Own Comic Book
LOS ANGELES - Dynamite Entertainment says it will be publishing comics based on Grumpy Cat, the Internet sensation who gained fame on social media and Youtube videos in 2012.
Dynamite said that starting this summer, it will launch Grumpy Cat with online comic strips just ahead of a three-issue Grumpy Cat comic book series to be published in the fall. The company is partnering with Grumpy Cat Limited, a company run by Tabatha Bundesen and her brother Bryan who own Grumpy Cat, whose real name is Tardar Sauce.
Since becoming an Internet meme that followed her appearance on Reddit in late 2012, the scowl-faced feline has become the "spokescat" of cat food maker Friskies. She would go on to make appearances on a number of television shows such as "Good Morning America," The Today Show," "American Idol" and "The Bachelorette," among others.
Grumpy cat is also the star of a series of books published by Chronicle Books, that include "The Grumpy Guide to Life," "Grumpy Journal," "Grumpy Cat" and others. She also starred in last year's "Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever," where Aubrey Plaza voiced her.
