Raven Symone Joins ABC's 'The View'

LOS ANGELES - Former child star Raven Symone is joining ABC's daytime hit, "The View," the network confirmed today. The network said she will join the show immediately.

Symone had guest-hosted the show 37 times and will be replacing Rosie O'Donnell who quit the show earlier this year. Symone will be joining moderator Whoopi Goldberg and co-hosts Nicolle Wallace and Rosie Perez.

Symone is known for her starring role in the Disney Channel children's show "That's So Raven," which ran from 2003 to 2007, establishing the once unknown teen performer as a star. Symone had previously worked on a number of shows including this season's megahit "Empire," "Blackish," "Hangin' with Mr. Cooper," "The Cosby Show," and many others.

O'Donnell left the show in February after separating from her wife. She had joined the show for the second time in September amid much hoopla.

Already the move has sparked debate among fans of "The View," about the 29-year-old actress's merits to hosting the show full time.
