Melissa Rivers to Serve as Co-Host of E!'s 'Fashion Police'

LOS ANGELES - Melissa Rivers will be taking over for her late mother Joan Rivers as co-host of "Fashion Police" on E! when it returns in August, the network has confirmed.

Despite the exits of Kathy Griffin and Kelly Osbourne exits from the show earlier this year, Melissa Rivers will assume her mother's role on the show and be joined by returning series regulars Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski, along with a rotating group of celebrity guests under the new format.

The show is set to return on Aug. 31 when it returns for coverage of the MTV Video Music Awards held at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif.

Osbourne’s exit in February came after a furor over the show’s Oscars episode, in which Rancic made comments about Disney actress Zendaya‘s appearance, saying her dreadlocks at the award show probably “smells like patchouli oil” or “weed." Zendaya complained that the comments were racially insensitive and forced Rancic to apologize.

Griffin also left soon after, complaining she could not be a part of a show that body shames others. She had served as host for just seven episodes at the time of her departure.
