LOS ANGELES - On the heels of its record-breaking success, "Jurassic World" is set to premiere in 2018, sources told Variety.

The magazine is reporting today that Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will return to star in the film sequel, which Steven Spielberg is said to executive produce through his company, Amblin Entertainment. Colin Trevorrow, who directed and co-wrote “Jurassic World,” will co-write the screenplay with fellow "Jurassic World" writer, Derek Connolly.

“Jurassic World” became the No. 3 highest-grossing film of all-time on Wednesday, surpassing “The Avengers” with a huge $1.52 billion in ticket sales world wide. The film is set to open in Japan in Aug. 2.

A title for the sequel has not been announced.
