LOS ANGELES - The 60s cartoon series "Mr. Peabody & Sherman" is coming to Netflix under a deal between DreamWorks Animation and the online distributor. The show is set to arrive on Oct. 9.

The new half-hour show will be made up of a 13-episodes based on the ’60s four-minute shorts from pioneering animator Jay Ward that originally aired “Rocky & Bullwinkle Show” produced by his Jay Ward Productions. In the show, glasses-wearing, pedantic canine, Mr. Peabody and his child sidekick Sherman travel through time to meet major historical figures.

“The New Mr. Peabody and Sherman Show” features the unlikely pair as hosts of a latenight comedy show broadcast from their ritzy Manhattan penthouse complete with a live studio audience. Guests will include historical figures such as Napoleon, Mozart, Edgar Allan Poe and others while Mr. Peabody and Sherman their famous WABAC machine to take them to new adventures.

The show uses 2D animation, instead of the 3D CGI used in last year's film "Mr. Peabody & Sherman," for a traditional cartoon look that echoes the original shorts.

The show will feature Chris Parnell (“Saturday Night Live,” “30 Rock”), and child actor Max Charles (“American Sniper”) who will reprise his role as Sherman from the 2014 film.
