Katherine Heigl Joins Legal Drama Pilot for CBS
LOS ANGELES - Katherine Heigl ("Grey's Anatomy") is joining the reworked pilot of CBS legal drama "Doubt," which is getting a second look by the network.
Heigl was cast as Sadie Ellis, a smart, stylish and successful defense lawyer at a boutique law firm who gets romantically involved with a client who may be guilty of a brutal crime.
The pilot from “Grey’s Anatomy” producers Tony Phelan and Joan Rater failed to earn a series order in May, and but it duo received the chance to reshoot the pilot with a rewritten script the recasting of several roles. Phelan and Rater will serve as writers and exec producers for the second pilot.
Original pilot's cast members Dulé Hill, Dreama Walker, Elliott Gould, Kobi Libii and Laverne Cox (“Orange Is the New Black”) will still star in the new pilot of “Doubt” with Cox taking the role of Cameron Wirth, a trans Ivy League-educated lawyer.
Heigl remerged on television last season with the NBC political thriller “State of Affairs,” which was cancelled after 13 episodes.
