Ronda Rousey to Star in 'Road House' Remake

LOS ANGELES - MMA Champion Ronda Rousey has signed on the proposed remake of the Patrick Swayze starrer, "Road House," by MGM.

The original film featured Swayze in the lead role of a bouncer hired to clean up one of the rowdiest bars in Missouri, The Double Deuce. But his character soon learns he must square off against a powerful, yet corrupt businessman.

The movie was one of Swayze's biggest films and is considered a cult film today.

The new film is said to be the MMA champion's most important film so far and is the fourth project being developed for Rousey as a starring vehicle, following her Paramount biopic “My Fight/Your Fight.” Other films being developed for the champion athlete is “The Athena Project” at Warner Bros. and the STX action film, “Mile 22."

Rousey, who is set to fight Holly Holm on Nov. 14, has appeared in “Furious 7” and “Entourage” movie as well as last year’s “The Expendables 3.”
