LOS ANGELES - YouTube and Awesomeness Films are teaming up for their first film under a new agreement, "Dance Camp."
Jon M. Chu (“Justin Bieber: Never Say Never") is producing the new film which features YouTube star Meg DeAngelis, Vine personality Jake Paul and Nadji Jeter (“Grown Ups”).
As part of a feature film deal struck by the YouTube and Awesomeness, “Dance Camp” is the newest film to feature online stars with large social followings. Awesomeness Films, a part AwesomenessTV, a unit of DreamWorks Animation, has already released “Smosh: The Movie” with Defy Media along with last year’s high-school comedy “Expelled,” which featured popular Vine star Cameron Dallas.
The film tells the story of a teenager who gets sent off to a dance camp after he's caught throwing a party. Once at the camp he finds common ground with a group of misfits whom he leads into a head-to-head battle with a rival dance group, but not before he falls for young camper (DeAngelis).
"Dance Camp" is directed by the duo Bert & Bertie, from a script by Nick Turner and Rex New Cast.
