LOS ANGELES – It looks like the long-simmering feud between “The Fate of the Furious” stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Vin Diesel is still on as the two stars were kept apart during media appearances at CinemaCon in Las Vegas this week.
Sources are reporting the two tough-guy actors are being kept from one another while the film’s team continues its press tour ahead of the movie’s April 14 release.
That issue was apparent this week when Universal screened footage of the film at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, where Diesel, Charlize Theron and other cast members are on hand to promote the eighth installment of the franchise. Johnson, however, is on the set of “Ballers” in Miami. Johnson had been in Las Vegas a day earlier, as part of the “Baywatch” panel at CinemaCon. On Monday night, he introduced Sony's Jumanji to the Vegas crowd.
Universal has denied there were any simmering tensions, saying the two actors have been on different continents during the press tour.
The feud reportedly began last year when Diesel, who was known for tardiness on set, arrived late for his final scene with Johnson, prompting Johnson to complain on Facebook, writing "My female co-stars are always amazing, and I love 'em. My male co-stars however are a different story," adding that "some" are "chicken shit" and "candy asses."
Incident led to a heated exchange between the two, resulting in bad blood ever since, despite the studio’s statements to the contrary.
