LOS ANGELES – Amazon is developing a half-hour series starring Danny DeVito and Jeff Goldblum, according to the streaming service. "The Simpsons" writer-producer Tim Long has created the series for Imagine Television.
DeVito and Goldblum will play Matt Downey (Goldblum) and Arlo Finkleman (DeVito), an iconic music duo who are forced to reunite despite a mutual dislike of each other. The odd pair attempt to reconcile with the help of their wives, ex-wives, children, managers, friends and lovers who are as quirky and lovable as the musical pair themselves.
Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo will be executive producers with DeVito and Goldblum. Jon Radler will oversee the project for Imagine.
The comedy is Amazon's newest among lineup of shows featuring high-profile creators and stars. Among the service's other series include a mob-themed drama from David O. Russell starring Julianne Moore and Robert DeNiro; Matthew Weiner's Mad Men offshoot, "The Romanoffs;" Nicolas Winding Refn's crime drama "Too Old to Die Young;" and "The Underground Railroad adaptation" from Barry Jenkins.
