Katy Perry to host MTV Video Music Awards
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Pop superstar Katy Perry is adding hosting to her resume when she hosts the MTV Video Music Awards next month.
"I've been training with MTV in zero gravity, eating astronaut ice cream, and I'm on a group text with Buzz Aldrin and Neil deGrasse Tyson," Perry said in a prepared statement. "Come August 27th, I'll be ready to be your MOONWOMAN! Brace for impact, kids."
Perry, who will also serve on ABC's upcoming American Idol reboot as a judge, will take on hosting duties at the VMAs VMA just prior to the start of her world tour for “Witness,” her new, chart-topping album.
Leading all VMA nominees is Kendrick Lamar with eight nods, while Perry and The Weeknd are tied for second with five nods each. Next, is Bruno Mars and DJ Khaled who each have four nominations, while Ed Sheeran and Alessia Cara follow with three nominations each.
The 2017 VMAs will live at , at 8 p.m. ET/PT from the Forum in Inglewood, California, on Sunday, Aug. 27.
