Plan to Reboot 'Magnum P.I.' Underway at CBS

LOS ANGELES – CBS is looking to reboot the 1980s Tom Selleck private detective drama “Magnum P.I.” according to The Wrap.
The proposed pilot being developed will focus on Thomas Magnum, an ex-Navy SEAL returning from Afghanistan to become a private detective. The original 1980-88 series starred Tom Selleck as Magnum, John Hillerman as Jonathan Higgins; Roger E. Mosley as T.C. and Larry Manetti who played Rick.
The pilot would follow the original four characters that will now include a woman instead of four men. Higgins will be Juliet Higgins, who will be a former British Intelligence agent.
Producers Peter Lenkov and Eric Guggenheim (both executive producers on “Hawaii Five-0”) are writers and executive producers on the CBS Television Studios and Universal Television co-production. Also John Davis and John Fox, both of Davis Entertainment, will also serve as executive producers.
The reboot is one of several so far. Others include “The Jetsons,” at ABC, “Roswell” at The CW, “The Munsters” at NBC.
