‘Fifty Shades Freed’ Leads the International Box Office on its First Day

LOS ANGELES – “Fifty Shades Freed” is leading the international box office on its first day of release with an estimated $9.1 million, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
After opening in 56 international markets this weekend, the final chapter of the trilogy led the German box office with $2 million and in France with an estimated $1.5 million on its first day, Wednesday. The numbers in France were about the same as “Fifty Shades Darker,” released last year.
The numbers in Australia showed an estimated $1.1 million or about the same as “Fifty Shades Darker,” while the Philippines reported $300,000 in revenue. “Fifty Shades Freed” is set to open this weekend in the U.S.
The film stars Dakota Johnson, Jamie Dornan, Eric Johnson and Eloise Mumford in this continuation of the story of Literature student Anastasia Steele whose life changes forever when she meets handsome, yet tormented, billionaire Christian Grey.
