A New 'Paranormal Activity' and 'Pet Sematary' Will Head to Paramount+


LOS ANGELES – A new "Paranormal Activity" film and a follow-up to the adaptation of the Stephen King story "Pet Sematary" will be going directly to Paramount+, according to an announcement at the ViacomCBS investor presentation.


The service will be getting an original horror film, "The In Between," which will star "The Kissing Booth" headliner Joey King.

The films are part of a plan to grow of Paramount+’s movie content which currently boasts more than 2,500 movies. The studio’s upcoming films on its theatrical slate will also stream exclusively on Paramount+ 45 days after their theatrical debut, including "Mission: Impossible 7" and "A Quiet Place Part 2."


The new "Paranormal Activity" movie will be directed by Will Eubank, with Jason Blum of Blumhouse and Oren Peli returning to produce the new film.


The new version of "Pet Sematary" follows up the success of the 2019 film based upon Stephen King's story that grossed $113.1 million worldwide. Jeff Buhler is writing the new film, with Lorenzo di Bonaventura producing.


Joey King will star in the supernatural thriller about a teenage girl who survives a car accident that killed her boyfriend, who then believes that he's now trying to communicate with her from beyond the grave. Kyle Allen and Marc Klein wrote the film, and Allen will also direct. Robbie Brenner and Andrew Deane are the producers. Jamie King and Klein are executive producers.
