CANNES, France – The Cannes Film Festival was canceled earlier this year, but its organizers will hold a special three-day event Oct. 27 to 29.

The Palais des Festivals will host a “Special Cannes” event, featuring four films from the festival’s Official Selection this year, along with short films and the Cinéfondation’s school films. The event will also include a jury that will award the Palme d’Or for short films and the Cinéfondation prizes.

The shortened festival will open with Emmanuel Courcol’s “Un triomphe” ("The Big Hit!") which will include star Kad Merad in attendance along with other cast members and crew and conclude with Bruno Podalydès’ “Les Deux Alfred” ("The French Tech"), which will feature Podalydès along with the film’s lead, Sandrine Kiberlain.

The event will also screen “Asa Ga Kuru” ("True Mothers") by Japanese director Naomi Kawase.
