CBS's 'Bob Hearts Abishola’ to End After Season 5
LOS ANGELES – CBS announced today that the Chuck Lorre-produced comedy “Bob Hearts Abishola” will end following its upcoming fifth season.
The comedy starring Billy Gardell and Folake Olowofoyeku along with “Young Sheldon,” another Lorre-produced series will end in 2024.
The end of both shows means that Lorre, who produced “Two and a Half Men,” “Cybill” and many other sitcoms will not have any series on broadcast television for the first time in decades. His has his Max comedy “Bookie,” however, is set to debut this week as he prepares to produce another “Big Bang Theory spinoff for the streamer.
The fifth season of Bob Hearts Abishol has already gone through a budget crunch that saw cast members outside of its two leads reduced from series regulars to recurring as many other broadcast and streaming shows have reduced their budgets.
Both shows join CBS police dramas "Blue Bloods" and "SWAT" set to end in 2024. The latter two shows have also experienced Major budget reductions, with the cast of the Tom Selleck procedural taking a 25 percent cut.
