Fox Renews 'Fantasy Island' for a Second Season
LOS ANGELES – Fox has renewed "Fantasy Island," the reboot of the iconic 1977-84 series, for a second season.
Rosalyn Sanchez will reprise her role as Elena Roarke, the owner of a luxury resort that aims to fulfill its guests’ fantasies. Kiara Barnes is also returning as Ruby Akuda, Elena’s right hand woman
"Fantasy Island" averaged about 3 million viewers a week, which made its debut this past summer, was the summer’s top scripted show among adults 18-49. Fox also reported that it was its most streamed new drama since last year's "911: Lone Star." It’s also reported to be less expensive than the usual network drama.
The current version of "Fantasy Island" is the third reimagining of the original series. A 1998 reboot starring Malcolm McDowell lasted a single season and it was also produced as a horror-themed motion picture in 2020.
Meanwhile, Fox said it will air a holiday episode of the series on Dec. 21, with season two scheduled to make its debut in 2022.
