Known for his melodic style and ability to blend pop, progressive rock and rhythm and blues, Tokaji reveals his eclectic side in the new single as dives into a blend of acoustic and electric sounds that echo Eric Clapton at his bluesiest and Angus Young at his most raucous.
“I’m excited about putting out this new solo single,” Tokaji said. “I wanted to share some of my unique influences and explore some ideas I’ve had for a long time, but never quite had the chance to use them.”
“Reunion” which is a hopeful nod to getting past the current pandemic and be able to reunite with our loved ones, features Tokaji on guitar and keyboards along with Jason Wang on bass, and Sebastian Konnackel on drums.
The single gives the noted guitarist the opportunity to venture out on his own even as he continues to record with Circle the Earth which is currently working on an upcoming album, due out in late 2021. The move also marks his return to solo performing which earned him a solid following in his native Japan where he recorded several hit singles and toured extensively prior to his arrival in Circle the Earth three years ago.
“I’ve been writing a lot over the past year, due to the pandemic and even before then, I had a lot of songs that I’ve been wanting to record,” Tokaji said. “I think fans will be pleasantly surprised by the energy of the music and the passion behind this exciting new single.”
“Reunion” comes just ahead of an upcoming single from Circle the Earth, which was delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Tokaji and the band have been recording separately for the album, which will include at least two singles set for release in 2021.
