Some Studios May Not Attend San Diego Comic-Con
June 24, 2023
LOS ANGELES – A number of Hollywood studios will not be presenting sizzle reels, world premiere trailers and footage or A-list talent to promote their films or television series at San Diego Comic-Con, ScreenDaily is reporting.
So far, Marvel Studios, Sony Pictures, Universal Pictures, Netflix and possibly Lucasfilm will likely be skipping their presentation slots inside hall H, the notable 6,500-capacity hangar at San Diego Convention Center which has hosted some of the industry’s biggest stars.
Studios are reportedly being cautious amid the ongoing Writers Guild Of America (WGA) strike, which is now in its eighth week. WGA members have stopped all work and promotional activities under WGA strike rules.
The studios are also apparently weary of the possibility of a SAG-AFTRA strike should the actors’ guild and Alliance of Motion Picture And Television Producers (AMPTP) fail to agree to a new contract before the June 30 deadline.
