Whoopi Goldberg to Make Return for 'Sister Act 3' on Disney+

LOS ANGELES – Whoopi Goldberg is set to star in "Sister Act 3," with Tim Federle set to direct the film that will be debuting on Disney+.

Federle, who is also the writer of the animated “Ferdinand” and was a producer “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” will join Madhuri Shekar who is set to write the film's script.

Goldberg will return to her role in the 1992 comedy as Deloris, the night club singer who famously went on the run from the mob and became a nun in a convent. The film went on to make $231.6 million worldwide and resulted in a sequel that didn't quite live up to the success of the first film, earning just $57.3 million.

Goldberg will also reportedly produce “Sister Act 3” with Tyler Perry and Tom Leonardis.
