'Blade Runner' Sequel Gets New Release Date

LOS ANGELES - Warner Bros. and Alcon Entertainment have agreeed to move up the release of the “Blade Runner” sequel three months to Oct. 6, 2017. The film had been slated for release on Jan. 12, 2018.

Denis Villeneuve is set to direct the sequel, which will star Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Robin Wright and Dave Bautista. The sequel, set decades after the original, is written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green. It is based upon the script by Fancher and David Peoples which was based on the novel “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" written by Philip K. Dick.

Cynthia Sikes Yorkin will serve as producer with Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove, both from Alcon, while the late Bud Yorkin, who was producer of Ridley Scott‘s 1982 classic, will also be creidted as producer.

Scott will serve as executive producer with Thunderbird Films' Frank Giustra and Tim Gamble, and Bill Carraro.
